BOMADERRY CREEK REGIONAL PARK

Public BBQ

Bomaderry Creek Regional Park proves that nature reserves near suburbia needn't feel suburban at all. The bushland walking track winds along the creek through surprisingly varied terrain. Rocky ledges give way to creek-side paths dotted with convenient benches for contemplation. The loop can accommodate both ambitious hikers and casual strollers, though basic rock-scrambling skills help navigate the trickier sections. Swimming holes punctuate the journey, and there's something wonderfully surreal about discovering The Mushroom, a giant boulder planted mid-creek like nature's own sculpture. The picnic area features proper BBQ facilities and toilets, though the absence of bins means visitors occasionally abandon their civic duties. Parking fills quickly on weekends. Dog-friendly on leash, though directional signage could use improvement once you're on the track.
